SIX Consequences if Prop 8 Fails!
VOTE YES on Prop 8!!!

1. Children in public schools will have to be taught that same-sex marriage is just as good as traditional marriage.

Currently, 96 percent of California public school districts provide “comprehensive sexual health education.” The California Education Code states that all of those schools must teach “respect for marriage and committed relationships” in grades K-12 and that they are prohibited from showing bias on the basis of sexual orientation.
Therefore, unless Proposition 8 passes, 96 percent of California public school districts will be required to teach children that same-sex marriage is equal in every way to traditional marriage or they will be in violation of the law. Additionally, teachers may not be required to give any warning or notice to parents before teaching children about same-sex marriage in the classroom.

2. Churches may be sued over their tax exempt status if they refuse to allow same-sex marriage ceremonies in their religious buildings open to the public. Ask whether your pastor, priest, minister, bishop, or rabbi is ready to perform such marriages in your chapels and sanctuaries.

3. Religious adoption agencies will be challenged by government agencies to give up their long-held right to place children only in homes with both a mother and a father. Catholic Charities in Boston already had to stop providing adoption services in Massachusetts because courts legalized same-sex marriage there.

4. Religions that sponsor private schools with married student housing may be required to provide housing for same-sex couples, even if counter to church doctrine, or risk lawsuits over tax exemptions and related benefits.

5. Ministers who preach against same-sex marriages may be sued for hate speech and risk government fines. It already happened in Canada, a country that legalized gay marriage. A recent California court held that municipal employees may not say: "traditional marriage," or "family values" because, after the same-sex marriage case, it is "hate speech."

6. It will cost you money. This change in the definition of marriage will bring a cascade of lawsuits, including some already lost (e.g., photographers cannot now refuse to photograph gay marriages; doctors cannot now refuse to perform artificial insemination of gays even given other willing doctors). Even if courts eventually find in favor of a defender of traditional marriage (highly improbable given today's activist judges), think of the money – your money – that will be spent on such legal battles.

YES on PROP 8
So I've never been involved in supporting a proposition like I am this year. I believe proposition 8 is really important!! At first I was uncomfortable with it because I believe homosexual partnerships should have all the rights heterosexual couples have.
I began to change my stance when I learned what has happened in other states and countries that have legalized gay marriage. My biggest concern is the fact that if legalized, my children will be taught (beginning in kindergarten) that marriage is between a man & and man, a woman & a woman, or a man & a woman. That's NOT okay with me. My kindergartener doesn't need to be confused with that!!
Another concern is that churches lose the ability to teach what the Bible teaches about marriage being between a man and a woman. This would now be considered "discrimination" and churches in Massachusetts and Canada (where gay marriage is legal) have been sued for preaching what they've taught for thousands of years and the churches have lost! How is this okay?
I know that being a homosexual is a hard way to live!! I have family and friends who live this lifestyle. I love them very much but I hurt for them when I hear of the many struggles they endure. I hope that this will not be a challenge my children have. I certainly don't believe it's an issue that should be brought up to them as an option in our public schools!
Let's give all people the same rights but let's keep marriage between a man and a woman. Homosexual partners can definitely celebrate their unions and enjoy all the rights (and challenges) that a committed relationship brings but marriage is between a man and a woman.
If you're in California, vote YES on Prop 8!!
I love this video put out by the Catholic Churchhttp://www.catholicvote.com/
FYI - I'm on the right with the yellow sign!!! :)

How would it be?

This morning I was straightening upstairs with Nathan when I needed to run a few things downstairs. I closed the gate and ran downstairs. Like I often do, I got distracted by the computer and sat down to read some emails. I could hear Nathan playing right above me although I noticed at one point that things were a little too quiet upstairs. I ran upstairs to check on Nathan and couldn't find him! I ran to his room, my room and the guestroom, ... no Nathan! I started freaking out a bit, afterall, the gate was closed so there was no where for him to go. I began checking all the toilets!! Scary! I was in the process of going through Katie's room to check the girl's bathroom when I happened upon a soundly sleeping baby boy. I couldn't believe it! He is so sweet!! I wish I could take little breaks like this throughout the day. :)

Katie's First Day of School

Annie survived the first day! :)

I think she was a little overwhelmed at the thought we had to do it all over again today! She had a lot of fun and only got lost once. This morning she told Josh that yesterday was her first day so she didn't know where things were but today she knows. Phew, that's a relief. Annie's teacher told me Annie had a great day yesterday and that she was so sweet. That made me happy!

Katie went into the 3-day preschool program with the same teacher she had last year. She knew many of the kids in class and it wasn't a huge transition. This morning she insisted on dressing herself. I recently boxed up all her size 3 clothes but after looking at this picture, I need to box the size 4 clothes too! I have to include 2 pictures because you need to see her silly brown shoes. They're cute shoes but they don't go with little cotton shorts!! I made the mistake of telling Katie a few weeks ago that they were her school shoes so she insisted wearing them this morning. I've changed quite a bit since baby number 3. I'm not willing to fight about clothes anymore, it's not worth it. I might think Katie looks silly but she thinks she looks fantastic and I think that's more than me putting up a fight and her beginning her day with tears.
